Hi I am Simon and welcome to my blog. I am a videographer and I’m obsessed with making movies/films/videos....whatever you want to call them! I was born, grew up and still live and work in Birmingham.I live with my best friend and wife (....it's the same person which is handy) in a small cosy flat in Solihull.
I started editing and making movies when I was about 21. My first movie was just a Little collection of some footage that I had taken on a Sony camcorder of a holiday in Woolacombe, Devon with Anna and our friends. I edited it on movie maker on a very slow PC. I managed to put some titles at the start and add music over the footage. That was it, I was HOOKED. I just loved the idea of mixing footage with music and creating emotion, it sent a tingle down my spine. After producing the first holiday movie it became a bit of a tradition and after our annual trip down south all I would hear from the day after our return would be "when is the Woolacombe movie going to be finished?"After a few years of editing holiday movies and showing them to my friends and family I got asked to film some local bands in Birmingham. I then managed to get myself better cameras and some more up to date editing software and started taking filming and editing a little bit more seriously.
I never intended to become a Wedding videographer as I always felt from the ones that I had seen that they were cheesy montages of heart shaped transitions, slow motion and soft focus. That was until one day I was reading a blog post from a Californian wedding photographer that I like and he had posted a link to the guys he worked with on his latest wedding. After spending days watching their amazing wedding movies it completely changed the way I thought about wedding videography. I realised that weddings could be captured in a beautifully emotive and cinematic way without being cheesy. I started trawling the net for videographers that producing movies of this quality in the UK and......I'm still looking. So that was it, Simon Clarke Video Production was born.
My style and approach to creating movies is just too simply capture the emotion and beauty of one of the most important days in a couple’s life in a cool and classic way.
Outside of shooting weddings and engagement movies I film music videos for bands and some corporate work.....so pretty much anything that allows me to sit at my Mac, fire up final Cut and create movies I am proud of!
I know it doesn’t sound like it but there are occasions when I am not filming or editing. When this happens it gives me time to indulge in my other obsession and that is MUSIC. I play drums and guitar whenever I can and keep my massive music collection in an organised / OCD like fashion! Anna and I love nothing more than packing a bag, getting in the car and heading down to Devon for some sea air. The south is definitely where our heart is and we are hoping to re-locate there one day soon.Well I think that is enough from me! I will leave you with this statement:
